Shelley

Shelley was a part time waitress
From a lot of little towns in Texas, she'd left a few men behind
She was the traveling kind.

I met her in a bar in Waco, where I'd been drinking for a week or so, I was flying low...sinking slow.

I wasn't searching for rainbows... I wasn't looking for love. Sometimes all you really need is a friend, and that bottle was enough. Then in walked Shelley...
She took hold of my lost soul. I quit drinking when she asked me to, and then with her help, I found myself. And life seemed to get a little better. Shelley said "Billy, if we just stick together it'll be alright. So I held on tight. I wasn't searching for rainbows, I wasn't looking for love. Sometimes all you really need is a friend, sometimes that's enough...
And I don't mind living in Waco... we've been together for a year or so, and we're doing fine... got a baby due any time....

And I do not miss the whiskey... Shelley wouldn't want my drunken kisses, anyway. So I take it day to day.

We're not searching for rainbows... we're not looking for love. Sometimes all you really need is a friend, sometimes that's enough...
